Myth #1. LLM = Artificial Intelligence

LLM is not intelligence. It’s a neural network trained to predict the next word (token). It doesn’t understand, analyze, or reason. It just continues text based on probability.

Yes, it can produce coherent text. That creates the illusion of intelligence. But the model has no goals or awareness. Without architecture around it — memory, logic, tools — it’s just a text predictor.

Myth #2. The model knows what it’s doing

Nope. The model has no awareness. It doesn’t understand the question, look up answers, or verify facts. It just generates the most likely next tokens.

It sounds confident — even when it’s wrong. LLMs are prone to hallucinations — confident, plausible-sounding nonsense.

Myth #3. A good prompt is all you need

Prompting is important — but it’s not the whole system. Even the best prompt won’t help without the right context, structure, and validation.

To build a working product, you also need:

  • Input/output data pipelines;
  • Validation and filtering;
  • Error handling and fallbacks;
  • System integrations;
  • Logs and observability.

A prompt is just one instruction. A product is the whole system around it.

Myth #4. Just connect an LLM and you’ve automated a process

Connecting a model to a chat or API is easy. But that’s not automation.

Real business logic needs orchestration:

  • state management;
  • working with context and data;
  • handling errors and timeouts;
  • fallback logic;
  • integrations and monitoring.

The LLM is an executor. You have to build the process around it.

Myth #5. Dump a terabyte of data into the model — it will understand

A classic corporate misconception: “we have tons of data, let the model figure it out.” But just uploading PDFs won’t get you far.

Even in a RAG setup, you’ll need to:

  • parse and clean documents;
  • chunk them meaningfully;
  • create vector indexes;
  • configure filtering, retrieval, ranking;
  • monitor relevance and freshness.

Dumping data = garbage in, garbage out.

Myth #6. The AI will learn over time

LLMs don’t “learn as they go.” They don’t remember outputs or adapt on their own. Their behavior only changes if you change the system around them.

To enable learning, you need:

  • feedback collection;

  • regular prompt and logic updates.

Myth #7. Let’s fine-tune the model on our own data

Fine-tuning sounds appealing. But in practice, it’s:

  • expensive (infra, team);
  • hard to do well (clean datasets);
  • often delivers little value.

In 90% of cases, RAG is a better choice. If you need slight adjustments (style, terminology) — try LoRA. But that also needs solid engineering.

Unless you’re Anthropic or Google — don’t touch the weights. Build around the model.

Myth #8. The model will ignore our data because it was trained on someone else’s

Only if you don’t guide it. With RAG, you can:

  • give the model specific context;
  • tell it to answer only from that context;
  • filter and validate the output.

LLMs don’t ignore your data — unless your architecture does.

Myth #9. To protect our data, we need to run the model locally

Not always. In most cases, secure cloud providers are enough if you:

  • disable logging;
  • sign a DPA (data processing agreement);
  • mask or encrypt sensitive data.

Self-hosted models make sense only when:

  • you handle sensitive/confidential data;
  • you use small, narrow models (3B–7B);
  • you can maintain infrastructure and a team.

Deploying a massive 70B model locally “just in case” is like buying a factory to print one business card.

Myth #10. You can’t build this kind of AI with no-code tools

This mindset is outdated. Modern no-code/low-code platforms let you:

  • manage LLM workflows and steps;
  • connect external APIs;
  • manage memory and state;
  • log, validate, and monitor agents.
